The salary of Kucherov, Benn, and Stone is 9.5 million USD before taxes. According to this index, they are not in the top 10 highest paid hockey players. But transition play in states with no additional income tax.
Therefore, they are one of the leaders in NHL salary. Interestingly, Pittsburgh striker Evgeni Malkin also earned before tax 9,500,000. But due to additional taxes in Pennsylvania (3.07%), Russians receive less – 5,446,350 dollars.
Although the Nikita Kucherov contract, which is one of the largest in the union, many experts believe that the Russians can get more. Kucherov signed an agreement with Tampa in the summer of 2018 after the best season of his career.
He became the third scorer of the 2017/18 season, winning 100 points (39 goals and 61 assists). Kucherov is expected to sign the biggest contract in NHL. But the Russians gave in to the club and agreed not to be the most favorable terms.
The not too big Kucherov contract was confirmed by the fact that Mark Stone received the same amount. The Vegas striker is a universal two-way striker, but not a tournament star. Stone has never in his career scored 70 points per season and failed to score more than 30 goals. Kucherov has overcome these marks for three consecutive seasons.
