The return of NHL through an Apple advertisement
On August, 1st, Apple marked the return of the NHL hockey tournament after the pandemic with an advertisement on its YouTube channel in Canada. “Watch games like never before with Ultra Wide and Slo-mo”, describes the video with content. As usual, fine print indicates that additional hardware and software have been used.
The commercial was filmed in February at SoBe Ice Stadium in Las Vegas, according to The Athletic, sharing some behind-the-scenes footage of the filming.
The Golden Knight is one of 24 teams planning to participate in NHL’s Stanley Cup Qualifier, starting today. All games will take place in the Canadian cities of Edmonton and Toronto. Players and other staff have entered safe “bubbles” separate from the public.
Like other professional sports leagues, NHL paused the 2019-20 season in March due to coronavirus concerns. The tournament announced its Return to Play plan in May, including a new qualifying round to determine which team makes progress to Stanley’s traditional Playoffs.
